Deprecation of QuakeWorld and Unreal Servers

As of August 12th, 2025, Drevonor's servers for the games QuakeWorld and Unreal are deprecated.

Back when Razorback was active, it had been running a QuakeWorld server from the very beginning. It aimed to address a deficiency in the availability of QuakeWorld servers over here, with the first deathmatch event taking place in a community of mine on October 9th, 2020.

The server proved to be a remarkable success, thanks to a partnership that would form between me and the DOSBox Deathmatch Club the following year. For the lot of four years, they've been responsible for organizing events taking place on this server.

In 2022, two more game servers were added to Razorback, one for Jedi Outcast and another for Unreal. These have seen similar levels of activity from some communities. Although Razorback shut down in November 2023, the game servers moved to this new domain so as to continue supporting events on the DOSBox Deathmatch Club.

However, I no longer have any role in that group. Several months ago, I relinquished control of the site and domain to the group's founder.

As I've lost my passion for multiplayer games, I plan to shut down the QuakeWorld and Unreal servers in the future. Going forward, I want to focus Drevonor's efforts squarely on succeeding the vision of Razorback as an exhibition of high quality dial-up websites. The Jedi Outcast server has already been dismantled some time ago.

The remaining servers will continue to function indefinitely. I project that their shutdown will occur sometime before Sardine Engine is ready to be deployed; a date will be announced at a later time, but you can expect these to continue running for at least the next few months. The development of Sardine Engine has made significant progress, but it is still far from ready. I hope to be able to provide more details on where it's been going soon enough.
